The Calhoun family
purchased Interstate in 1979 and until 1999 operated as a General Agency
with production and underwriting authority for several programs targeting
specific market segments. Business was previously placed with
a number of companies including Colony Specialty, Catlin Specialty, Montpelier US and Seneca ,
Western Heritage, and Western World Ins. Co. Interstate's strong
local presence, seasoned underwriting staff and established network
of independent agencies throughout Louisiana have helped yield consistently
profitable Commercial portfolios in a relatively turbulent market
place.
