The Calhoun family
purchased Interstate in 1979 and until 1999 operated as a General Agency
with production and underwriting authority for several programs targeting
specific market segments. Business was previously placed with
a number of companies including Guaranty National, National Fire & Marine,
Western Heritage, and Western World Ins. Co. Interstate's strong
local presence, seasoned underwriting staff and established network
of independent agencies throughout Louisiana have helped yield consistently
profitable Commercial Auto portfolios in a relatively turbulent market
place.
